Today we played a modified game of the Living Museum. It was also our first game using the Ulterior Motive cards.
Scenario - Under CONSTRUCTion
The warbands have come upon the neighborhood of an eccentric Enchanter named Uzbek. In the centre are the ruins of a manor, within which are 6 large statues, a treasure sitting before each of them. There are also 4 man sized statues spaced between them.
The manor itself seems to have had some barricades & repairs done to it, the ruins nearby stripped of usable resources.
If any treasure is moved by spell, or person, all the statues animate, as they are in fact some of Uzbek's constructs. When activated, un-engaged large statues will pick up treasures that lay before them. Otherwise the statues will engage any opponents.
A dice is then rolled (the number based on entry points), whatever number is rolled will determine the exit point the statues will head for with the treasures, thus trying to remove them from the game. The large constructs are not encumbered by the treasures, however they suffer the combat penalty & terrain penalties to movement.
Any of the other statues, will engage anyone within 10", but otherwise make towards the exit point themselves.
If a statue is destroyed, it drops the treasure. If any dropped treasure is picked up, a new construct will appear from the ruins (roll d10 & direction dice). This will occur every time a treasure is dropped & again picked up.
To determine the size of the summoned construct roll a d6
1-3 Small
4-5 Medium
6 Large
Any of these summoned constructs will be encumbered by the treasures as normal.
Any of the original large constructs slain by a warband earn 25xp each.
The Ulterior Motives that were in play were 'The Drawing Knife', 'The Courier', 'Emerald Eyes', 'The Hunter'.
Post game saw the following;
Bob the Elementalist - 265xp, No Treasures. Bob - Lost Toes, Timmy - Psychological Scars, Tofer Killed.
Ludwig - 410xp, 40gc, +1Damage 2 hand weapon.
Innovar - 170xp, 60gc , Grimoire - Illusionary Soldier, Darce- killed, Perp - miss game
Eben - 445 xp, No Treasures, Marshman - miss game

Ulterior Motive Objectives
As I prepare the next Frostgrave Campaign game for this Sunday, we will begin using the Ulterior Motive cards. Thus I needed to come up with a bunch of the objective markers for use during the game.
Now I did get the set of markers with the mini Nickstarter, however after browsing through the cards, quickly realized I would need more....many more, as we know, as sure as I don't have it handy, it will be needed.
Thus began the scrounging from other games & I managed to cobble together quite an eclectic mix.
Also my Ceri Designs gaming cloths arrived. I picked up 3 from the recent Kickstarter. I went for 3 of the same design, which will be shown in the images below.
Here is the mat, displayed beside my Lexar cobblestone (which I've been using). Not a bad match, though I wanted the brown dungeon floor mats, seeing as I have the grey cobblestones covered.
Now onto the objectives, so I needed some more stone circles. Remembering a garage sale purchase quite a few years ago, I found the aztec style coaster set. Now granted they are a bit larger than the circle from the Nickstarter, but they are ready to go & will be perfect for one of the upcoming scenarios in the campaign.
Then it was onto the statues. I had some small gargoyle type statues purchased during the after Hallow-ween sale at Michael's. I've used them as grave markers in the past as well. Did a quick paint job on them.
I also still have quite a few of the Chtulhian figures I got a bag of from a game store. These little fellows are finding all kinds of uses now! As for doorways, there is the one that came with the Nickstarter (on the left) & then 3 from the original Warhammer Quest gamebox. I also have some of the open doors from Heroquest to use as well.
Lastly there were the runic stones & sarcophagi to think of. Luckily I was able to source these from my recent Path to Osiris Egyptian Dungeon tile set.

Pulp Alley in the Congo
Bruce brought his Congo figures out the the club & we used the Pulp Alley Rules. The scenario pitted 4 factions looking for an ancient statue. In order to discover the statue, 2 plot points needed to be completed.
The plot points closest to me consisted of a camera crew
And Tarzan
Amongst the tents was another plot point. A bound woman which one of the factions rushed too immediately.
Alas the Celtic Knot was too much for Chen & he spent most of the game trying to complete it.
My group moves towards 2 plot points.
The first one completed, we moved towards Tarzan, but found it contested by Wiley.
The warriors are moving towards the statue which has been found with the completion of a second plot point. Chen is still trying to solve the knots.
As we near the end, Wiley finds his entire warband downed. Not looking good for him.
I was able to begin the last turn holding the initiative, so I went first & completed the Major plot point, thus ending the game.
This was our first game using Groups of minions. It seemed to work well. Looking forward to playing more of this system. Thanks Bruce for bringing it out.

This is only a TEST
Before our last game of Frostgrave, Craig was over first & we had a chance to chat about gaming stuff. One of the things we discussed was how the brown carpet squares I have look quite like cobblestones. So with that being said I proposed to do a 'test' on one of the squares to prove the theory.
I also noticed a week or so ago, some folks discussing options for cobblestones on the Frostgrave Facebook page. Now I already have my Lexar sheets, however these are expensive (unless you can snag them on an after Christmas sale). Of course these do not cover my games table.
Here is the original carpet tile
After the application of watered down Woodland's Scenics - Slate Grey. The intent was to get the colour down deep. Allow to dry for a day.
So after just doing that, here it is shown with my Lexar cobblestones. It could go just with this I think.
I persevered however & did drybrushings of Charcoal Grey / Rain Gray / Yellow Ochre
Here is the completed tile in comparison to the Lexar. It does appear quite brown in this photo.
But when displayed against original carpet pieces...
Now I had gotten my pieces of carpet for free, as they were off to the landfill otherwise. It took 15 pieces to cover my games table (Ping Pong). I think these do work quite well & when looking at scale, do in fact make for a more realistic cobblestone size for 28mm figures. So that completes this TEST. Hope you find it inspirational or useful while working on your projects.
