Continuing on with the Descent Consignment, I've finished off 2 of the expansion pack heroes from the Manor of Raven's Expansion & a Lieutenant.
Up first is Alys Raine
and Thaiden Mistpeak
I also completed Skarn, who was a very interesting figure to pain.
And the closeups of them.
I have another 4 Descent figures on the paint table atm, which should be finished by the weekend.
I know, here we are, yet another site dedicated to gaming and gamers, Miniature painting and the wearing of funny hats. But like so many others, we will spend hours poring over the accomplishments of others....here are mine. Hope you enjoy the journey!

Cthulhu Wars at EWG
Tonight I played my first game of Cthulhu Wars at the club with Barry & Wiley.
We chose our faction randomly from 1 of each colour cultist in the bag.
Barry chose the Crawling Chaos
Wiley the Yellow Sign &
I chose the Great Cthulhu.
In the first couple turns we spread out our cultists to collect more gates.
It wasn't long before we started seeing the Great Old ones emerge, though we didn't have as much combat as expected. The Yellow Sign was a blight, & Wiley soon had all his figures active on the board.
This was of course the first game for all of us & I was surprised at how quickly we rose up the Doom Track. As well two of us had completed collecting our 6 spell books as I rose to the 30 on the Doom Track. After the final round's of the Ritual this is where the points ended with The Great Cthulhu coming out on top with 39 Doom points, followed by The Yellow Sign with 35, though he hadn't gotten all his books. The Crawling Chaos was a distant third with 25 points.
We all agree it would have been a much different game had we gotten a 4th player. As well we can all see that it will take time to learn the nuances of each of the factions. There are some YouTube videos with discussions on each faction that I may take a look at.
The game seemed to play very quickly & I believe we were finished in about 90 minutes. Looking forward to giving this game some more plays.

It started with a notice in the mail
I arrived home in time to receive the post before the outlet closed. As I withdrew the bundle from the post box, a shiver ran through me.
Alas what could it be that would cause such a feeling. The day was very pleasant, with temperature's well above normal for this time of year.
Taking the parcel cards to the clerk, she shuddered as she looked upon it, nodded & looked over both shoulders as she withdrew to the back to collect the parcel.
She quickly handed it to me, requesting that I leave at once for the parcel was creeping her out.
I assured her she was mistaken as I gathered the bundle...immediately feeling the weight of what lay within upon me.
I turned on many lights as I opened the carton, attempting to remove all shadow. My hope being it would limit what would occur next.
As the box within was removed, I stood numbed, drool slipping from my quivering lips.
What I saw next was burned into my mind's eye, like the spots a sun leaves on ones eyes upon looking at it without protection. The spilling forth of 4 Great Old Ones, their underlings gibbering from within the zip-lock bags seeking release.
The forces I had were pitiful compared to the greatness of these Old beings.
Alas, this is just the beginning of what lies ahead, I feel the portals of Pandora's box have opened & shall again to spill forth more in the future.
Needless to say with the Club night occurring tomorrow, my night shall involve scouring the tome to delve into the rules of dealing with these spawn's desire to take over our world.

Zombicide Zombies
I had a good weekend of painting. Well... good for me as I didn't paint up a regiment or anything. Instead it was another 4 Zombies.
First up is another Walker, though this one came from the second Kickstarter series of games. As well another Berserk Walker. After painting this one, I am not happy with the colour of the shirt, so will be using a different blue for other others. Likely the colour I used on the Runner in the previous post.
I also applied some of the Testors Clear Red after the matted spray had dried to give them a bit fresher blood look in spots. Thanks to Michael Awdry for giving me the info on this paint.
The next two are a couple of Toxic Ladies, one wearing Daisy Dukes & another a Lady of the Night.
Up next are some Descent figures, the main one being Skarn from a Lt Pack. He is a pretty big model & proving fun to paint. I will also be switching to more All's Quiet on the Martian Front as Scott had figured out the points we will need to run the Mayday game & I will have a bunch more human forces to paint.

Song of Shadows & Dust - Henchmen & a Couple More Zombies
I had a good day yesterday getting 5 more miniatures painted.
First up is the last 3 members of my Shadows & Dust faction. So here I have 2 Tough Henchmen (w/ curved daggers) & a sword armed Henchman (centre).
As well I finished 2 more Zombies, another Berserk Zombie & a Runner.
I have 4 other Zombies on the paint table, then will likely get at more of the Descent & All's Quiet on the Martian Front models for the Mayday game.
I've also received word that the Cthulhu Wars games will soon be shipping, so there is some insane excitement to see & play this in the near future.
Cheers

Song of Shadows & Dust - Retired Veterans
The next couple of figures for my warband are some Retired Veterans.
As well I finished a casualty figure. Hopefully this will be used to represent other players factions, or could potentially be used as an objective?
I have roughly 4-6 more figures to paint up for this warband, then I will be moving onto some other back burner projects.

Shadows & Dust Henchmen
Here are the first of the painted miniatures for 2015! As discussed previously, my focus is on getting my Shadows & Dust warband painted up.
So here are 4 more henchmen.
Again, I've armed these hooligans with cudgel's made from sprue bits.
The left guy below has a rather large stone, guess he is planning on being a rock star!.
Up next are a couple fella's armed with short swords & some knife wielding zealots.
