Descent Heroes & a Lieutenant

Continuing on with the Descent Consignment, I've finished off 2 of the expansion pack heroes from the Manor of Raven's Expansion & a Lieutenant.

Up first is Alys Raine

and Thaiden Mistpeak

I also completed Skarn, who was a very interesting figure to pain.

And the closeups of them.

I have another 4 Descent figures on the paint table atm, which should be finished by the weekend.

    1. Thanks Bob, I really must read through the cards to determine exactly what he is...a golem? Artificial Lifeform? All I know is he is against the players.

  2. They are really great looking miniatures, Skarn, particularly is so interesting given all the bits that make him up.

    1. Thanks Michael, he is indeed. One who is skilled at the whole painting of light from the candles could have a field day. Alas I am not that painter!

  4. Wow. Awesome work as usual Terry. I can't wait to get these to my gaming table.

Skarn really is a unique dude, you did a great job of making his different elements stand out.

The Heros have somewhat staid and generic poses. Alys's pose seems timid and unsure, which is not a usual heroic pose. The paint jobs look great though, lots of detail for plastic boardgaming minis. :)

    Peace

    1. Thanks Brent, just be sure to leave some room in your suitcase to take them home in March!

  5. Terry, are you available for hire? I would like to get my Manor of Ravens heroes and Skarn painted just like these. You do fantastic work!

    Kind regards

    1. Hi Kevin, thanks for your interest, and your kind words. I am not really a painter for hire per-se as my time to work on things is limited & thus my timelines are not overly deadline convenient. I know there are painting services out there who could likely do an excellent job with Skarn & get them returned to you expeditiously.

    2. Hi Terry,
Could you recommend some painting services? I have been unable to find any that I like. The work of I have seen from some of them come no where close to your level of detail. You add such depth and shadowing. Most places just make them a simple color and leave it. Is there a service that you can recommend that does work closer to your level?
      Thanks!

    3. Hi again Kevin, none specifically that I can recommend. Obviously location would be a factor. I take it your in the UK? So that itself lends to issues of having me paint the stuff. Shipping would be silly. There are often clubs with facebook pages. Find a club near where your living. Visit them & perhaps find someone through that venue. I just googled miniature painting services & had a whole list of them show up. Then just work through them to find who best would serve.
As to my depth of shadowing, that is due to the wonderufl Army painter dip I use. I tend to use the STRONG version. Though my more recent Star wars ones are using the Skintone version which is the lightest. I believe there is a water based dip army painter uses now as well. I like the laquer as it protects the models from gameplay. We all know the errant dice throws that knock figures over. Hope this helps
