This morning I have the first of the two Devastators completed.
Described as little more than Tanks, when these fella's show up, there is no more compromise.
While applying the red, I was noticing something interesting with how the red looked depending on if it was over a white prime patch or where the black/boltgun metal had been applied. I should note that I am using craft paints from Michael's for the red.
Liking what I was seeing I went for a black wash over all locations the red would be applied for the next Devastator. It has now had its first coat of red applied & I expect to complete him this lunch hour.
I know, here we are, yet another site dedicated to gaming and gamers, Miniature painting and the wearing of funny hats. But like so many others, we will spend hours poring over the accomplishments of others....here are mine. Hope you enjoy the journey!

Core Space - The Harvest is in!
Good day of progress yesterday as I completed the remaining 4 Harvesters for the Purge.
I also got a good start on the Devastators, 1 of which I hope to complete today. Of course having Kickstarted this game, there are some more Harvesters I will be needing to paint, but again I am just focussed on the core game figures for now, just so I can get it laid out & begin learning the rules. I will likely do similar to my Frostgrave Campaign & create the Comic Life stories of the adventures. So please stay tuned as I continue this project. Thanks

Core Space - The Purge Arrive
Now that I have my first 2 crews completed, it was time to begin working on the Nemesis of the system - The Purge!
Here are the first of the Harvesters, from what I understand, the most common of the Purge, though no less deadly.
I at first did the shell in a darker yellow, but didn't like how it was looking, so went with a lighter Desert Yellow. Much happier with this result as again I am basing the colours on the images in the book as well what I see many painting on the Facebook site.
So there are 4 more of these to paint, so expect to see them in future posts.

Core Space - Tirgarde
This morning I bring you the final member of the Ion Hope crew - Tirgarde
Just perusing his background this guy is a bit of a loner, more in it for himself. Not sure how trustworthy this guy will be in a fight & would he really watch your back? Guess we shall see.
Next up is the start on the Purge, beginning with the Harvesters. Thanks for visiting.

Core Space - Gak & Roykirk
As seems typical of the hobby best intentions are oft left wanting. This was the case this past weekend, as although I had hoped & intended to complete the rest of the crew of the Ion Hope...it just wasn't meant to be. The lawn beckoned for a good mowing & then my wife insisted I assist with some weeding, thus the 5 hour block I had set aside for my hobby session, became 3.
Oh well, that's life. However I did get 2 of the crew finished & applied the Dullcoat this morning.
Here we have Gak & Roykirk
When it came to painting Gak, I am glad I looked at some other folks painting, as I didn't at first realize that most of his legs are bared. I originally thought he had some baggy type trousers on. I hope going forward that the illustrations provided show a whole body for those of us that like using them as guides to paint our figures. As in all the games I have with characters, I always try to paint them to match their cards, making it easy for players to identify them. I am not a fan of this clip on coloured disks that many games provide.
So that leaves 1 crewman for the Ion Hope, which I will be working on during my lunch breaks.

Core Space - Arianna
Today I have completed (seriously just dull-coated 15 minutes ago) Arianna Sabrine, the Captain of the Ion Hope
I do like the pose of this figure, it has a bit of sassy swagger to it.
So onto the next member of the Ion Hope, but you will need to wait to see them. As the weekend is upon us, its likely I may be able to get more than 1 done!

Core Space - Renton
This morning sees the last member of the Black Maria completed.
Here is Renton, the Ex-Soldier
Being dressed all in black, you would think he would be the quickest figure to paint, but then we all struggle to then show various shades of black, so that hi-lights & shadows exist. I am pretty happy with my results on Renton
So with that crew completed, I will be next moving to the crew if the Ion Hope

Core Space!
After viewing various posts on this game I Kickstarted. It was time to crack the box & get into working on it.
So I will be focussed on painting up the core box figures to start. This will give me 2 crews & some Purge, as well as a couple civilians.
The Core Space Facebook site has shown me some fantastically painted figures. I noted many have transferred them to the clear bases that are becoming so popular these days.
So here is my first figure painted up. Jace Dolman, Captain of the Black Maria
The original figures are all soft plastics, however it seems they have switched to Resin figures for these new kits.

I am now working on Beck.
Also I recently received my new expansions to the system. The new Dangerous Days book
As well as the 2 new box sets. Shift Change at Megacorp & Rogue Purge.
So now its for me to get focused & get these figures painted & the terrain built so I can play a game. I am hoping that with restrictions beginning to ease that I can meet with a gaming friend, otherwise it will be a solo affair (which isn't so bad) as it will allow me to learn the rules.
Thanks for visiting.

Barbarians 2nd Ed, Core Space Basing & a bit of Moderation
Today is a good day! I recieved my Barbarians 2nd Edition Kickstarter in the mail.
With it I also snagged the Mystics Expansion.
I played this game back in 2018 at Kefcon. This was the first edition & it can be seen here.
I have also been busy with the basing for my Core Space figures. As always I mount my figures on washers. This is for when I use my magnetic sheeted travel boxes for going to the club, etc. It's worked quite well for me, though sometimes the washers can shift a bit while the glue dries.
The game comes with a 2'x2' mouse pad material mat. After a base of dark grey. I used a blister pack sponge to dab metallic silver, tinny tin & some rust pigment.
I then dug into my box of old decals from the many model kits I've built. using the numbers as markers & opted to use various coloured lines just for some interest. For each crew the figures will get a different coloured line to make it easier to identify their faction for when I get several trader crews battling it out.
I am starting with the crew of the Black Moriah. And aim to complete the core box set of figures by the time we can return to our club meetings.
As I look at it, I will likely revisit the sponging on the edges of the bases & washers too to complete them.
What do you think?
On a final note, I've had to turn the moderation of comments on as there has been a rash of those annoying spammers placing their comments throughout my blog. Please don't let that from stopping you posting releveant comments. I will get them cleared as I see them.
It's times like this it would be nice to be able to block or report these users. In fact I feel blogger shouldn't allow anonymous accounts, it would aid in stopping this abuse.
Thanks for visiting & hope to have more updates as I work through the core space figures.

Well that went fast
As I was perusing some of the other blogs I follow, I noticed that my last post was back on the 5th of April. WOW where did the time go?
I have been taking this time at home to work on the crawlspace, hauling out boxes & going through things, then reorganizing the items going back in, so that all of the components for the game systems I have are together in one place.
This has also afforded me an opportunity for others to benefit from my finding of duplicates, etc which I am not putting out for sale to friends & local gamers.
During this time I've also received a couple of kickstarters & also set aside some items for my next project to work on.
Again, it would be usable, but I've lost the green hue I wanted. Finally I thought, what if I added the earth tone over the green?

Finally I am getting back to some hobby time, as well as more 3d printing as I delve down that rabbit hole.
So fist up is my first print from Lv427 Designs. This is a corridor set for use in such games as Aliens & Space Hulk. So I started with the Hangar Bay Entrance.
The other side of the piece
And some doors. It appears you need to print each twice, so that they are glued together to make the door. The large door had some small areas in the centre I've cut out & will be placing some clear blister plastic in to act as glass.
So after printing it, I noticed some issues. From what I have seen in others asking online, this is due to extrusion issues. However I've decided that those will make the perfect spots to use for rust effects & corrosion, perhaps from acid?
I am curious how the next piece will turn out as I am now finished with the 2 rolls that came with the printer & will be trying some Hatchbox PLA I got from Amazon.
I also received my order from Lunesdargent Workshop. This time around he did a Mayan/Aztec style dungeon set. I got his Egyptian tiles from his first kickstarter so knew what to expect.
The tiles come in a pale yellow tone
So I wanted to go for a greenish hued stone effect. I have some large bottles of Woodland Scenics pigments. So lets look at how the green undercoat turned out.
It looked good, but still seemed a little light for my tastes. Then I tried doing one in Earth Undercoat
I think I've discovered the palette I want to use for this set! Now I just need to spend the time painting the sets!
As for the next project I am working on. I've been seeing a lot of good stuff on Core Space. So I've just gotten the core box figures added to washers & primed. I will be painting them up to prepare for when we are able to socialize again
Thanks for visiting & I hope to be posting more frequently than 5 weeks!
