Space Station Zero at EWG

After some conversations with Chen, he agreed to run a Space Station Zero campaign at the club.

He generated some crews for the 5 of us that chose to take part in the campaign. We had 2 crews - Monster Hunters (Richard & Craig) while Colin, Will & I took a Merchant Crew.

With characters split amongst the players, we entered an Abandoned Docking Bay Access Port (Challenge 1) which connects the general Docking Bay Zero safe area to the unexplored areas beyond. These bays are broken down, barely lit & full of dangers!

As my camera battery was dead at launch, I asked Colin if he would grab some photos to use for this post. Alas we didn't get a photo of the full table layout.

Obstacles & Enemies for the game were pre-rolled by Chen (which makes it easier for him to bring whats needed). Our challenges were...

A Poison Chemical Gas Leak. 3 leaks were occuring causing every activating character to roll a Life Save or suffer damage based on fails. We had to get characters at each location to turn off the leaks.

Our 2nd challenge were some Ancient Sentries consisting of robotic guards, their weapons non functioning, so they were armed with their hands or weapon remnants to swing in battle.

Several crewmen suffering the effects of the poison gas..

The shambling sentries did manage to get into melee with some of the crewmen.

As for the Captain of the Merchant crew, he was taken down by a sentry, but survived, missing the next scenario. One of our Engineers wasn't so lucky & died from the poison gas.

So we move towards the next Challenge, but I won't spoil it now. How long will the campaign go? My guess is until we lose everyone, so the question is, are we up for the challenge?

Thanks Chen for running this, it played quite quickly once everyone got the mechanics down. Thanks Colin for snagging the photos.

Necromunda - Tainted Dregs

We are a couple weeks away from the launch of our new Necromunda Campaign. This time we will be doing the Book of Desolation Campaign.

Two of the other players are doing the Spyer Hunters, wanting to get those new models out. I opted to go with a Nomad warband that has been infected by the Malstrain.

We did play an initial game to test out our bands & needless to say....I had to redo mine. This Campaign seems to max out with around 7 figures per band. So while my initial warband was 11 figures, due to the scenarios they would never all be on the table & I would end up handi-capping myself.

Now for the backstory.

" For Skarl it began with a thought... not much to be bothered by as the tribe scoured the Dust Wall for salvage. However that thought soon began to fester, gnawing at the mind & always there...whispers that would not stop.

Soon the thought became nightmares filled with things of horror. With many a night's sleep disrupted & awakening in a sweat. What was happening...& who else was noticing? Steeling himself, his iron will pushed back the nightmares, & slowly the nightmares ebbed. However they were now becoming dreams...dreams filled with the twisted horrors yes, but also whispers of Strength & Power.

What more do Nomad's embrace but Strength in their tribes to overcome the trespassers trying to breach the wall. Embracing the dreams as a portent, it began to be noticed that others within the tribe seemed to also be affected. The tribe became more agressive, like swirling dervishes in their attacks on interlopers.

Until one day it is as if they were summoned beyond the Dust Wall... "Come....Home"

Using a box of the Necromunda Nomads,  I built the models as shown in the instructions, but have a second box & the Weapons box for making some alternative weapon loadouts, should they be needed.

Here we have my Leader Skarl (it's his thought thats leading us into this) armed with his chain lance & blaster pistol & the Champion Skree armed with a charge caster & blaster pistol.

These were painted with mostly Contrast/Speed paints & I really liked how they turned out.

Rounding out my Nomad's are a warrior specialist (with the Long Rifle in the middle) flanked by 2 Dust Runners.

I used Army Painter Runic Grey on the backpacks & really like how it turns out. this will be great for use on computer consoles. It was here I noticed I missed a cable on the 1 figure, but that has since been painted to finish the model off.

The remaining members of my gang (Dust Mite Riders, a Malstrain Coalesence & Brood Scum) will be provided by Elliott who is letting me use his figures until I can get my own completed.

Now to see how this rebuilt band does in our Campaign. I am the only one doing a Malstrain gang, thus far.

Stargrave The Last Prospector - The Final Showdown.

Today all 5 of our group played the Finale of the Last Prospector Campaign.

In the centre was a crypo pod within which was the Prospector.

Surrounding the Cyro-pod were 6 portals. Surrounding all of that was 4 pillars with an electrical force field of some sort, which prevented seeing through it. (See top photo)

Stage 1

Craig's crew quickly engaged a couple of cultists near their entry point.

My crew finding itself stuck in the open, popped a smoke grenade.

Chen deployed a Wall of Force to block the cultists.

Kurt was able to destroy one of the pillars....on turn 1!

With the pillar destroyed, the force wall drops. We then entered Stage 2. Craig didn't notice the Cultist behind the stack & got a rude awakening.

Suddenly one of the portals flared & a Guardian of Light emerged.

My crew continued to advance, dealing with several cultists.

This is around the end of turn 4. There was still a lot of cultists being mopped up. Several shots have been made against the portals, but none were disabled.

More Guardians of Light are emerging.

Dan's crew continue to slowly advance. They were being held up by several cultists.

One of my Engineers was able to unlock the Cryo-Pod while Dans crew was engaging one of the Guardians.

Stage 3

With the prospector released, I began to withdraw, hounded by Chen's grenades & firearms. My Engineer was eventually felled, but I was able to get my Pathfinder to the Prospector & with the use of Smoke, made my escape. As well the chamber began to cave in with rocks falling from above injuring crewmen.

The Prospector is saved!

With that, our Campaign has drawn to a close. Everyone enjoyed this scenario & we played it pretty much as written. The wildcard being the ability of someone being able to take down the pylon early in the game. Dan was able to deactivate one of the portals as well.

Thanks to everyone who played in the campaign & those who have followed along with our misadventures.

Now we are looking at launching a Frostgrave Campaign in January.

Stargrave - The Lost Prospector Finale Prep

Tomorrow is the big day! The Finale of our current Stargrave Campaign where we finally discover where the Lost Prospector is!

So reading through the scenario, I needed to get together some figures...The Guardians of Light have been handled, so onto the next challenge, 25 cultists.

Ummmmm....

Looking through my figures available & debating whether to start making a bunch of Northstar Miniature Cult Sci-fi guys I stumbled upon this box.

Now that would cover 5 guys, but they are stated to be Pirate Troopers, meaning carbines for all. Sure we could just say they all had carbines, but starting to build a bunch of Northstar figues is beginning to look likely.

Then while looking through Facebook, a local fellow was selling a pile of these exact figures. Quickly responding, I snagged his 50 figures which he had painted.

Sorting through them, I found the 25 I would need & after getting washers attached to the bases, primed them all for me to repaint.

And its been hectic (just finished them a couple hours ago).

Using mostly Contrast paints throughout, although I always find areas that just regular acrylics work best.

Just did a behind shot on the first 5 figures to show how they look.

At this point, the astute among you will note that I had actually painted up 26....well thats certainly better than being short! And here is the whole group of them.

As thats a wrap on todays post, I did get the table set up for tomorrows game, so here is a teaser.

To represent the energy wall, I grabbed some more of the glow sticks from the dollar store which I've used in another scenario. The 22" long ones come 4 to a pack. The shorter 8" are 12 to a pack. Each beam is using 1 of each length.

Thanks for following along, busy now with food prep for tomorrows game.
