Frostgrave - The Haunted Houes

 A couple weekends ago we held our 9th Frostgrave Campaign game. The scenario was The Haunted Houses.

However prior to that, I needed 5 ruined stone buildings. When I previously ran this scenario, several years ago now (2016), I had made some Pringle Can buildings.

These had long since been sold off during a swap meet, so now it was either make more of them, or find something else....3d print some? Sure, but that would take time I didn't have. It seems to be my life that I am always chasing my tail to the next scenario for prepping needed things.

Then I remembered I had bought a bunch of the Kromlech Frostgrave MDF kits. After digging around my shelves I found it.

Upon removing the plastic wrap & checking out the components, I got down to it.

The set comes with excellent instructions & what I found pretty cool, is that the walls are double thickness.

Which meant taking the time to glue them & ensuring they line up as they are supposed too while the glue dries.

With all the buildings completed, it was time to get painting.

I primed them grey with rattle can (weather was still good for this). Looking at the image of the set, there was no way I would be painting the individual stones. Time was slipping away. So I did my usual dry brushing system for stone terrain using craft paints. First burnt umber

Then Yellow Ochre

With an overall dusting of Sand colour.

The couple of building with roof bits, were done in a slate grey, then dusted in sand.

Also with the kits were wooden sleeping palettes. Overall I was very impressed with this kit & would recommend it to others. The buildings with the double thick walls are very sturdy.

With that hurdle passed it was now time for the game.

Everyone made it, so we had the 6 warbands attempting to explore this place.

We had decided that the central building would have a wraith regardless of roll. It was another nasty battle with Bags, Dexter & Mantic being killed. Fang, Tandri, Thomas & Jack will all be spending the next game recovering from their wounds.

This was our 2nd game playing on the smaller footprint & everyone seems to enjoy the quicker engagement with the other players.

Now its tail chasing time, prepping for the next game. Until then.
