Stationfall at EWG

Tuesday night had 3 of us sit down to play Stationfall. We used the initial tutorial to teach the game that has a 4th player NPC that performs actions to teach us the various actions & things you can do. There were 12 characters in the game. Each of us is given 2 facedown cards at the beginning from those 12 to determine who our secret identity is. Until your revealed, players just use their activation to move about the characters peforming various tasks...with the idea of working towards your identity's goals.

Wouldn't you know it, the NPC player activated the anti-matter, attempting to blow the station up sooner than it was already going too! Each section of the station has various actions you can perform in them...assuming you have the right abilities in some cases, an example being, only an officer can print a gun at the print shop.

However activating the anti-matter did allow for the abandon ship to kick in for the use of the escape pods. Each character has certain goals to complete to earn points at end game...of course if your dead, then its all sort of moot.

We did manage to get most of the people off the station before it blew.

At the start it seemed like we would have lots of time to do things, but as we got closer to the end, it seemed the game became faster & faster.

We could see how having more players would make for a chaotically wild game, perhaps next time we will get a few more. Thanks for visiting.

Stargrave The Lost Prospector - The Revolutionary

We had a full table today with all 5 crews returning to Penthalia Station. With word that the Prospetor had dealings with an underground organization. Without dabbling too much into the politics, we were able to arrange a meeting with a woman named Daughter Ryla.

Daughter Ryla awaits in the abandoned corridors.

The abandoned area of the station....or so we thought!

Aroogah arrives with the first of his crew & the contact that has joined them to lead them to Daughter Ryla.

So far so good, keeping watch behind us, just in case.

Craigs crew deploys a smoke grenade to rush across the open space.

It's a TRAP! A Shock Trooper Security Robot arrives, knocking one of Dan's crewmen down. It seems they've been following us to find Ryla!

Returning fire, Dan's crew take down the Shock Trooper.

More security is starting to arrive. 2 Guard Robots & a Trooper Robot.

3 of the crews make a dash to reach Ryla, with my Contact encountering her first & getting her to follow. There was  smoke grenade dropped into the zone, followed by melee & many grenades causing grief.

Holding my own at the rear, a well placed grenade taking out the 2 Security Guards. The Trooper however took a couple turns to bring down with numerous members of my crew.

The brawls in the centre continued...Ryla was hit by shrapnel a couple of times, but was still standing.

Dan's Captain makes an appearance amongst my Crew. He managed a good stike upon my Captain, but didn't finish him....seems he wanted the loot token that had been dropped.

Kurt finally made an appearance, launching a Flame Thrower down the corridor. It destroyed the loot token in the center, as well as a couple of crewmen. Ryla got away unscathed by the flames.

Meanwhile, Chen had his hands full with a couple waves of Security descending upon him.

We finally had a break & were able to get Ryla away from the chaos on the centre

Dan also had some Security Bots arriving behind his crew

The second last turn, where Daughter Ryla is about to make her escape.

All in all a good game, with lots of Crew interaction. I got Daughter Ryla away at the expense of giving the loot token I had unlocked to Dan's Captain for his cooperation in not hindering the escape any further. Chen was being mauled by security bots & had 2 of his crewmen apprehended. Dan also had one of his apprehended. They will need to pay their purchase cost in credits to get them released. This leaves us 2 more games of this campaign. Until next month, thanks for visiting!

Paint Table Sunday

I was able to get a couple of hobby hours in on Sunday & made good prep progress on 2 of my Silver Bayonet Crews, getting their bases done & priming prep (black, grey, white for Contrast Paints), I also finished up another 4 of my LOTR Numenorean Warriors with Sword & Shield, getting me to 8 now finished.

Also got my Stationfall game punched & ready for when I run it a the club on the 2nd of Sept.

I did manage to find the figure pack for it, so will need to get them primed for some winter painting! Yes I know I said winter, but then here we are almost halfway through August & this is Alberta!

Moonstone!

About a year ago, I was chatting with Jason at Industrial Park Games while I was looking at an odd game system I saw on their shelves. It was called Moonstone & had some funky looking figures that reminded me of Terry Pratchett's Discworld.

Now I know that there are Discworld figures out there, but that is not what this post is about. Jason asked if I've played it & I responded no, this is the first time I've seen it. He stated that it was a good system, so I figured I would give it a try.

Purchasing the 2 starter boxes that were there (& of course being a completionist I bought some of the expansion packs as well) & the rulebook, they have been since been sitting with my plethora of other things. Enter Courtney from Figuratively Speaking Miniatures who when I asked was quite happy to take on the commission.

So there would be 16 models for her to paint for me. These are resin multi-part models, which seem somewhat fragile, but she did an amazing job on them! I never mentioned the bases so had to do those myself. So as we see the models, remember, the kudo's on the awesome paintjobs are all Courtney!

First up we have from left to right Beaky Bobby, Vicious Syd, Doug The Flatulant & Grub. I believe these are Goblins. Each character has a stat card with whatever special abilities they are also endowed with....I think we can figure out what Doug The Flatulants ability is!

Next up is he Human faction consisting of Eric the Squire, Baron Von Fancyhat, Flintlock & Friar Flavious. Those were the 2 groups from the original 2 player starter.

The second 2 player starter was called Life & Death Struggle

The undead faction consists of Serif, Negroli, Greymair (who has a piece of something hanging off him - sheesh) & Angerboda

For the Life faction (which had the Angry Jackalope added) consists of Jayda, Mr Toodles, Hoff & Jackalope. Speaking with Courtney it was decided to throw that one to her as she was painting the other one anyway.

So once again, thanks to Courtney for taking this on & getting me set up so that I can host a 4 player game (once I get through the rules)

Thanks for visiting.

Gangs of Rome at EWG

On Tuesday night, George brought out Gangs of Rome.

We had Chen & myself play, while George ran the game & managed to play 2 games. In the first scenario, it was just a matter of taking out the rival gang.

Each gang member can attempt 4 actions. The number of dice you roll for successes is based on your agility. So if your gang member only has a value of 5, he rolls 5 dice looking for success on 4+. Not a good idea to try to do 4 actions with that gang member. If you do get successes = to your number of actions attempted, you get fatigue which reduces your dice.

One of the interesting mechanics is that your gang members can move into a mob & emerge the following turn from any of the mobs on the table.

The mobs, if within 6" of any disturbances, will react is some way, either fleeing, doing nothing but watch, or get aggressive & attack the nearest gang member.

The gangs meet & after some tussling, one of the members falls. Similar to most games, the attacker rolls for successes & the defender rolls defence dice to try to mitigate any hits. Once the gang members Health drops to 0, they are taken out of action.

Tokens are also drawn that allow actions by the mobs, whether its simply moving, or attempting to get them to react it some way. The gang member below was taken down by an angry mob.

Chen was having a bad night for dice, as he was down to his last man. I had 3 members swarming him. You can see how well I did on my attack.

For our next game, we each had a Noble we were protecting. The goal was to take down the other factions Noble.

One of my gang members got stuck between 2 mobs. He was attacked by the aggressive mob & taken out.

Chen had better success with his dice on this game & took down my last gang member protecting the Noble, while the Noble began to move away.

My noble made a run for it, trying to get back into the main plaza, but Chen was able to catch him & stabbed him in the back.

My last 2 gang member were chasing Chen's noble, but he scurried past his last gang member. Unfortunately for Chen, the city constables were now all over the plaza due to the agitated mobs. As they pummeled Chens gang member, this was the result of his defence. His defence was 4 dice, but due to his shield he had a reroll.......I will let the image tell the tale.

Thanks for brining it out to the club George. Perhaps next time we will have more players to add to the mayhem.
