Dungeons & Lasers Swamps of Doom Terrain

For my next upcoming Frostgrave game, I needed some suitable pieces of terrain to use on the board. Some time ago I helped Kickstart another of the Dungeons & Lasers box sets.  This was for the Swamps of Doom.

Opening the box, I pulled out the sprues of Swamp plants, Walkways & Twisted Trees. The set comes with 3 sizes of the swamp plants (which are bright green plastic out of the box). I've got them all primed black & then prepped the ones I needed for speed painting.

Having gotten them painted up, a couple tips for the remaining ones, there are lots of bits of rock poking out through the grass, which when painting the fronds green I had gotten overzealous with, I had to go back & touch up the stone with white before I could use the Army Painter Ashen stone speed paint on them.

For the bit of swampy water in the middle of this piece, I used Gharragak's Sewer, then Mantis Green for the Lily Pads. After the whole piece was matt varnish sprayed, I painted on some Glossy Varnish.

For the 2 small pieces I did, I went over the vegetation with a Satin Finish Varnish. Looking at the 2, I don't really notice a difference in the vegetation.

And the figure for scale photo! Another thing I noticed, is that I can actually stack the pieces, of like kind, atop one another so that will be handy for storing them.

Then it was onto the trees, first up the stumps. Now these were matt varnished, but they sure don't look it. As its the same can as I did the swamp veg with, not sure what's going on at this point. They will need to get sprayed again!

There are 6 trees in the box & these are multi-part requiring some gluing. But they have done something clever!

The tree aligns with the stump using the larger wedge. So once they are aligned...

You have your Twisted Tree. Grrr....the shininess bugs me!

And of course, the figure for scale shot.

I still have the walkways to get prepped & painted before the game, as well as a bunch of Frostgrave Cultists I have built & primed to get work done on.

So that's it for todays post. Thanks as always for taking the time to visit.
