What a Tanker at EWG

George ran a game of What a Tanker using his 10mm WW2 vehicles on the 14th of Oct.

We had a good showing with 9 guys out. The images I have below are a mix of the ones taken by Jonathan & myself.

We played The Charge at Prokhorovka. The image below shows the view from the German positions.

The German Briefing

July 12, 1943. Operation Citadel has hit a wall of fire. Your small armored

detachment has dug in along a critical railway embankment south of Prokhorovka.

The air is thick with wind-blown ash and dirt. Out east, the steppe is shaking;

the Soviet vanguard is charging your positions at full throttle. Your high-velocity

cannon hold the range advantage, but if their swarms cross no-man's-land, your

defenses will be overwhelmed. Hold the line.

VICTORY PARAMETERS

* Major Victory: Prevent the Soviets from exiting more than 1 tank off the

Western board edge by the end of Round 6.

* Minor Victory: Prevent the Soviets from exiting more than 3 tanks off the edge.

DEPLOYMENT & FORCE ASSIGNMENTS

Deploy anywhere on or behind the Embankment (within 45 cm of the West edge).

All German vehicles start the match Stationary, Loaded, and Unbuttoned.

The Soviet Briefing

Comrades, the Motherland demands an aggressive sacrifice. The fascist heavy armor

has dug onto a commanding railway embankment. Trading shots with them at long

distance is execution by firing squad; their superior optics will punch through

our steel. We must use the wind-blown dust clouds and farmsteads to shield our

approach, gun our engines, and slam into them at point-blank range where our

76mm shells can bite. Advance as a single wave!

VICTORY PARAMETERS

* Major Victory: Exit 4 or more surviving T-34s off the Western board edge

(behind the German embankment) before the end of Round 6.

* Minor Victory: Exit 2 or 3 tanks off the Western edge, or completely destroy

  both German Tigers.

DEPLOYMENT & RECYCLE POOL

Your forces begin the game off-board. On Turn 1, spend exactly one Move (1) die

per tank to cross onto the table edge from any location along the East board edge.

The Soviet tanks advance

The initial German shooting was abysmal. Any hits that did land, did minor damage to the T-34's. Craig managed to get his T-34 past the German line on the right flank.

Other T-34's make it to the line, however at this point, the Germans began getting flank shots on them.

Not sure what the duck was about - Thought maybe the commander was a lucky duck or something. Turns out it was just to help the player who was commanding multiple tanks.

The Germans finally get a kill. That's pretty close for comfort though.

We then had a T-34 commander who was determined to ram the Pzr IV

The Mark IV survived the ram & backed off.

More T-34's were brewing up. By this time, the game was drawn to a close due to having the pack up before the store closed. With the Soviets only getting a single tank off the end of the table, it was determined to be a German Major Victory.

This was the first time playing for many of us. Thanks George from bringing it out.
